It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The name is derived from a Native American word of the Lenape language, tucsedo, which is said to have more than one meaning. Tuxedo Park is a village within the southern part of the Town of Tuxedo, near New York Route 17 and the New York State Thruway.
