State Highway 1, State Highway 169, and State Highway 135 are three of the main arterial routes in the city. The city was incorporated March 13, 1889, which makes it the oldest city in the Arrowhead region. It owes its establishment to the Soudan Mine and was named after mining financier Charlemagne Tower.
