It was founded in 1880 by local settlers and was named for Postmaster General, and future Texas Governor, Thomas Campbell. Campbell is located at 33°08′53″N 95°57′05″W / 33.14806°N 95.95139°W / 33.14806; -95.95139 (33.1481702, -95.9513564). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²), all of it land.
