¶1The defendant, a slave, was convicted of manslaughter, and the judgment of the Court {nem. con.) was, that he should be burnt in the hand by the jailor in open court, and should be publicly whipped with thirty-nine stripes. See the Act of Virginia, 17th December, 1792, § 34, p. 190.
