Most-quoted passages

The sentences later courts lift from this opinion, ranked by how many decisions quote each — the parts of the opinion doing the work. These counts are smaller than the citation total above because most of the 3 citing decisions cite the case generally; a passage count includes only decisions quoting that exact language verbatim.

  1. “• “When there shall not be jurors enough present to form a panel in any cause, the court may direct the sheriff or other officer to summon a sufficient number of persons having the qualifications of jurors to complete such panel from the bystanders or from among the neighboring citizens, and the officer shall summon the number so ordered : Provided, That in case either party to such cause, by himself or his attorney, shall so. request it, it shall be the duty of the judge of such court, to select such jurors and. cause a venire to issue for the same, naming the jurors so selected therein as hereinbefore provided.””
