Most-quoted passages

The sentences later courts lift from this opinion, ranked by how many decisions quote each — the parts of the opinion doing the work. These counts are smaller than the citation total above because most of the 2 citing decisions cite the case generally; a passage count includes only decisions quoting that exact language verbatim.

  1. ““the trustee, as to all property in the custody of or coming into the custody of the bankruptcy court since that amendment, with all the rights, remedies, and powers of a'creditor holding a lien by legal or equitable proceedings upon such property so coming into the custody of the court of bankruptcy. Under this amendment, therefore, the trustee no longer stands simply in the shoes of the bankrupt; but as to all property acquired by the bankrupt since the amendment, and so coming into the custody of the court of bankruptcy, the trustee is entitled to all the rights of a creditor holding a lien by legal or equitable proceedings upon such property at the date of the bankruptcy, and the prior decisions, holding that he has no other rights than the bankrupt had at the time of the bankruptcy, are no longer controlling.””
