“Testimony was introduced both by the State and the defense that the deceased, Paul Murphy, claimed the appellant owed him a large amount of money. The appellant sought to show this was untrue, and we think he had a right to do so, as it showed the provocative nature of the accused's [deceased's] conduct and tended to disprove the appellant had any mercenary motive for the killing, which facts in turn had a bearing on his insanity defense. But he was not entitled to dilate on these matters and show in detail his benefactions to the deceased through the years.”
