Later decisions citing this case, by decade. The current decade is in progress, and our corpus holds fewer opinions from the most recent years, so the latest bars are undercounted — not a real decline.
Most-quoted passages
The sentences later courts lift from this opinion, ranked by how many decisions quote each — the parts of the opinion doing the work. These counts are smaller than the citation total above because most of the 11 citing decisions cite the case generally; a passage count includes only decisions quoting that exact language verbatim.
“That appellee [plaintiff] had title to the scrip, bonds and jewelry in controversy on this appeal, does not, upon the evidence adduced at the trial, admit of doubt. Counsel for appellant concedes that by his purchase of the safe at the execution sale, he acquired no title to the contents of the safe. There is no evidence that the sheriff opened the safe levied upon, and sold its contents, if he might have done so. Allen on Sheriffs, p. 110.”
