George Klotter, senior, was the owner of a tract of land on Brown street, in the city of Cincinnati. He had formerly been for many years in the business of brewing beer, in partnership with one Sohn, but had retired therefrom sometime before 1868. He had two sons who were without capital, and he conceived the idea of building a brewery on the Brown street property and establishing his sons in business thereon.
