¶2I respectfully dissent, being of the opinion that David N. Speyrer’s request for joint custody was untimely. ' The trial judge erred in awarding joint custody in spite of the fact that the child’s mother, Debra Prejean Speyrer, had almost single-handedly reared her son for six years, from age 2 to age 8, during which time the child had only limited contact with his father.
