¶1Defendant's petition for writ of certiorari is allowed for the limited purpose of remanding the case to the trial court for reconsideration in light of the decisions of this Court and the Court of Appeals in State v. Ellis, 361 N.C. 200, 639 S.E.2d 425 (2007), State v. Wall, 348 N.C. 671, 502 S.E.2d 585 (1998), and Hamilton v. Freeman, 147 N.C.App. 195, 554 S.E.2d 856 (2001).
