Most-quoted passages

The sentences later courts lift from this opinion, ranked by how many decisions quote each — the parts of the opinion doing the work. These counts are smaller than the citation total above because most of the 5 citing decisions cite the case generally; a passage count includes only decisions quoting that exact language verbatim.

  1. “... There is no formal announcement required to establish oneself as a contestant to the validity of any last will or testament. Notice may be given but it is not required. A person desiring to contest a will need do no more than make that fact known. When his interest is made known and his right to contest has been established, under the provisions of T.C.A. § 32-4-101 the court having probate jurisdiction must certify the fact of the contest to the circuit court which has original and exclusive jurisdiction of the issue of devisavit vel non.”
