Most-quoted passages
The sentences later courts lift from this opinion, ranked by how many decisions quote each — the parts of the opinion doing the work. These counts are smaller than the citation total above because most of the 14 citing decisions cite the case generally; a passage count includes only decisions quoting that exact language verbatim.
“At trial, appellant’s lawyer made no contention that the evidence of appellant’s behavior toward the [victims] demonstrated other crimes. Consequently, the question whether it did and, if so, whether it came within one or more of the exceptions set forth in [State v.] Engleman, 653 S.W.2d [198, 199 (Mo. banc 1983) ], was never presented to the trial court. An appellate court will not convict a trial court of error on an issue which was not put before it to decide.”
