Dictionary of Terms and Phrases Used in American or English Jurisprudence
Nephew and niece. These words mean the immediate descendants, H male and female, of the brothers and sisters „ of the person named; and will ordinarily vl include grand-nephews and grand-nieces. They may be shown, by circumstances, to include grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and even a great-grand-niece.

Nephew, in a will, may be construed, when consistent with other provisions of the will, as including grand-nephews.

Where a testatrix by will made a residuary bequest to " all my nephews and nieces," the court held that only her own nephews and nieces were included, and not those of her husband.
