Lately deceased
The name of a writ, in old English practice, issued on behalf of a coheiress, dispossessed by her coparcener of lands of which their common ancestor died seised in fee-simple, to establish a proper division of the lands. The name was derived from the Latin words in a clause of the writ referring to the ancestor who had lately deceased.
