The list, roll, or schedule embracing the names of persons summoned to attend as jurors; also, the body of persons in attendance under the summons is sometimes called the panel. The word panel includes the jurors returned upon a special venire, to fill out the deficiency after the regular panel has been exhausted.

In Scotch law, one who appears to take his trial for a crime is called the panel, during the subsequent proceedings; thus the term is equivalent to " prisoner at the bar."
