Dictionary of Terms and Phrases Used in American or English Jurisprudence
This word, as used in Me. Rev. Stat. eh. 157, § 5, relative to counterfeiting, is synonymous with forged or counterfeit. To make a case within the statute, the bill should have the external appearance of those issued by the bank named. A paper containing the words and figures of a genuine bank-bill, but having no other resemblance to one, cannot be said to be in the similitude of the latter, within the meaning of the act. Nor can "similar" be substituted for " in the similitude."
State V. Mc Kenzie, 42 Me. 392.
