Subornation

Or, more fully, subornation of perjury, is the offence of procuring another person to commit perjury. Subornation of perjury is the offence of procuring another to take such a false oath as would constitute perjury in the principal. To render the offence of subornation of perjury complete, either at common law or on the statute, the false oath must be actually taken; and no abortive attempt to solicit the party to take it will bring the offender within its penalties. The punishment is the same as for perjury; viz., fine or penal servitude, for not more than seven nor less than five years. (3 Geo. IV. ch. 114; 20 & 21 Vict. ch. 3; 27 & 28 Vict. ch. 47.) Brown.
