One chargeable with treason; also, more generally, one ■who betrays a trust. Traitorous: treasonable; betraying. Traitorously: in the manner of traitors. TRANSACTIO; TRANSACTION. The civil law and French terms corresponding to compromise. They import an agreement to surrender the residue (if any) of an unascertained debt, in consideration of the payment of an agreed sum; or some other settlement of a suit or matter in controversy, by the contesting parties, made between themselves, without referring it to any tribunal.
