It seems settled in England, by the case of Nicholson v. Gouthit, that the law with regard to a promissory note is different, and that, if in any case where the notice is made for the benefit of the maker, notice to the indorser can be dispensed with, it is only in the case of an insolvency known at the time of indorsement.
