In English ecclesiastical law. The right of presentation to a church or ecclesiastical benefice; the right of presenting a person to the bishop for admission to a vacant benefice. Advowson appendant: an advowson annexed to a manor and passing as an incident upon grant of the manor. Advowson collative: an advowson in which the bishop himself is the patron. Advowson donative: an advowson in which the patron has a right to put one In possession by mere gift, without presentation^ Advowson in gross: an advowson belonging to the person. Advowson presentative: an ordinary advowson by which the patron has the right to present and to demand the institution of the person presented, if found canonically qualified.
