6 A surety that a defendant would appear and answer all charges. " Bail " are sureties fora specified matter, expressly stipulated. They may imprison or surrender at any time; whereas, "mainpernors" can do neither.** Mainprize. The writ or proceeding by which a defendant was committed to mainpernors.'
