To carry away. Cepit et asportavit. He took and carried away. Words formerly used to charge an unlawful removal of personalty.
De bonis asportatis
For goods carried off. The name of an action of trespass for pex'sonalty unlawfully removed, withheld or converted.

ASPORTATIOlf.
Carrying away or removing a thing — a chattel. In larceny there must not only be a taking, but a carrying away. Cepit et asportavit was the old law- Latin expression. A bare removal from the place in which the goods are found is a sufficient asportation.*
