A Dictionary of Law
The land, between the lines of high and low water, over which the tide ebbs and flows; synonymous with shore, strand, flat. A deed of land described as bounded "on the beach" does not convey the shore below high-water mark, unless this boundary is controlled by other parts of the description. Taking sea-weed from an uninclosed beach, and selling stones therefrom from time to time, may operate to disseize the true owner.^
