autre, fr. Another; other. Auter action pendant (another action pending): a plea in abatement stating that a prior suit has been begun for the same cause. En autre droit: in right of another. Pur auter vie: for the life of another. Auterment: otherwise. Autrefois: at another time; formerly; heretofore. Autrefois acquit (formerly acquitted): a plea of a criminal in bar to an indictment, that he has once before been acquitted of the same offence; v. Plea.
