Probable cause

In malicious prosecution, such facts and circumstances as would excite the belief in a reasonable mind, acting on the facts within the knowledge of the prosecutor, that the person charged was guilty of the crime for which he was prosecuted.

In matters of prize, such circumstances as would warrant a reasonable ground of suspicion that the vessel was engaged in an illegal traffic.

In privileged communications, such reasonable ground of suspicion, supported by circumstances sufficient to warrant a cautious man in believing that the party is guilty of the offense.
