Ballivus

Balivus, Baillius, Baillivus, L. Lat. [L. Fr. bailife, baillif, bailli.] In old law. A bailiff, baily or bailie; a person to whom some authority or trust is committed or deputed. Spelman. Cowell. Co. Litt. 61 b. A ministerial officer of justice.
