In Roman law. A servitude which consists in the right to conduct. the rain-water, collected from the roof and carried off by the gutters, onto the house or ground of one’s neighbor.

In old English law
Flood; flood-tide, Flumina et portus publica sunt, ideoque jus piscandi omnibus commune est. Rivers and ports are public. There. fore the right of fishing there is common to all.
