Black's Law Dictionary · Henry Campbell Black, M.A. · 1910

Black's Law Dictionary

In old English law

Keeper of the pleas of the crown.

Bract. foL 145.

Cowell supposes this office to have been the same with the custos rotulorum. But it seems rather to have been another name for "coroner."

Crabb, Eng. Law, 150; Bract, fol. 136b.
