In the general passage; that is, on the journey to Palestine with the general company or body of Crusaders. This term was of frequent occurrence in the old law of essoins, as a means of accounting for the absence of the party, and was distinguished from simplex passagU um, which meant that he was performing a pilgrimage to the Holy Land alone.
