In most convents there bas been a common room into which the brethren with-, drew for conversation; conferences there being termed "parliamentnm." Likewise, the societies of the two temples, or inns of court, call that assembly of the benchers or governors wherein they confer upon the common affairs of their several houses a "parliament" Jacob.
