comm. law, a denomination of money, of the United Netherlands. It is computed in the ad volorem duty upon goods, &c. at the rate of forty cents.

Vide Foreign coins. FLOTSAM or FLOTSAN, a name for the goods which float upon the sea when a ship is sunk, in distinction from Jetsam, (q. v.) and FQiTICIDE, med. jur. Recently this term has been applied to designate the act by which criminal abortion is produced.
