A Law Dictionary, Adapted to the Constitution and Laws of the United States
is a thing necessarily depending upon, appertaining to, or following another, called the principal. The power of punishing for contempt is incident to a court of record; rent is incident to a reversion; distress to rent; estovers of wood to a tenancy for life or years.
