A Law Dictionary, Adapted to the Constitution and Laws of the United States

when in favour of the plaintiff, is that he recover a specified sum, assessed by a jury, or on reference to the prothonotary, or other proper officer, for the damages which he has sustained, by reason of the defendant’s non-performance of his promises and -undertakings, and for full costs of suit.
