Bouvier's Law Dictionary and Concise Encyclopedia

Process under which the sheriff is directed to arrest the defendant and is required by law to discharge him upon his tendering suitable bail as security for his appearance. A capias ad respondendum is bailable; not so a capias ad satisfaciendum.
