Cash on hand: as, A B is in funds to pay my bill on him. Stocks: as, A B has one thousand dollars in the funds. By public funds is understood the taxes, customs, etc., appropriated by the government for the discharge of its obligations. In England “The Funds” are synonymous with “Government Funds,” or “Public Funds 7 H. L. C. 280; and generally mean funded securities guaranteed by the Engl Lsh government: 27 L. J. Ch. 448; but do not include foreign bonds guaranteed by England; 2 Coll. 324; nor bank stock; 7 H. L. 0.
