Public disgrace; Infamy; reproach; dishonor. Ignominy is the opposite of esteem.

IGNORAMUS (Lat we are ignorant or uninformed). The word which Is written on a bill by a grand jury when they find that there is not sufficient evidence to authorize their finding it a true bill. They are said to ignore the bill, which is also said to be thrown out. The proceedings being now in English, the grand jury Indorse on the bill. Hot found, Vo hill, or, No true hill.
