An imposition or duty. See Antiqua Custom a., are called vctcra statuta, or antiqua stat uta. The division is due to the accidental arrangement of the earliest printed copies of the statute. The former were first printed in 1497; the latter in 15S8.

Between them were statuta in ccrti temporis, which came to be regarded as of the last year of Edward II.; but some were certainly older and some were never issued but were merely lawyers’ notes, “apoclirypbal statutes,” like the Apochrypka in the Bible.
