Antinomy

[Gr. antinomia, from anti, opposite, and nomos, law.] In the civil law. An opposition, contradiction, or inconsistency of laws. "The antinomies, or contradictions of the Code and Pandects, still exercise the patience and subtlety of modern civilians."
