[Lat. apostoli, from Gr. bto Giilloi, to send from.] In civil and admiralty law. Letters dismissory, addressed by a court from which an appeal is taken, to the superior court, for the purpose of certifying the appeal. Spelman, voc.

Short letters dismissory, signed hy the judge a quo, stating shortly the case and the sentence, and in the room of further apostles, declaring^ he T^ill transmit all the proceedings.
