[L. Lat. approbator, probator.'] In English criminal law. A person, who being indicted of treason or felony, upon his arraignment, befoii^ plea pleaded, and with a view of obtaining a pardon, confessed the crime charged in the indictment, and was thereupon admitted by the court to reveal on oath the accomplices of his guilt.* 4 Bl.
