Attornatus

Attumatus. ^L. Lat [from attornare, q. v.]. One who is attorned, (L. Fr. attourni), or put in the place of another, {ad turnum alteriuj); a substitute; an attorney.

Spelman.

Attomatus vel procurator; an attorney or procurator, (proctor.) Beg. Orig. 25 b, 281. These were nearly or quite synonymous terms. Provisum est quod quilibet liber homo — libere possit facere attomatum suum, &c.; it is provided that every freeman — ^may freely make his attorney, &c.
