Avoucher

Fr. and Eng. [L. Lat. advocatio, from vocare, to call or summon.] In old English practice. The calling or summoning into court by a tenant, of a person bound to him to warranty; that is, either to defend the right against the demandant, or to jrield him other lands, <fec., in value.

Called by Lord Coke " a word of art," and employed by him as an example of the necessity of using " significant words, framed by art, which are called vocahula artis, though they be not proper to any language." Id. ibid.
