Bann: pl. Banns. [L. Lat. bannus, bannum; pl. banni, banna.] In old law. A proclamation or public notice. Any public summons or edict, whereby a thing is commanded or forbidden; a sentence of excommunication, publicly proclaimed; a declaration of outlawry; a denunciation or curse.
