Fr. In French law. A billet or bill of exchange. Pothier distinguishes this from a proper bill of exchange, {lettre de cliange,) The billet de change, he says, is when the party with whom the contract is made is not at present prepared to give the bill of exchange agreed on, and merely gives a billet, by which he engages hereafter to furnish one on the proper place.
