In practice

An abridgment of a plaintiff's or defendant's case, prepared by his attorney, for the instruction of counsel on a trial at law. It generally consists of an abstract of the pleadings, a statement of the facts of the case as they will be proved, and a list of the names of the witnesses, with a statement of what each will prove. To these are sometimes added observations by the attorney, in the nature of suggestions to counsel.
