A New Law Dictionary and Glossary

Burgmote, Burgemote. Sax. [L. Lat. burgemotus, burgesmotus, burgimotus; from burg, a burgh, and mote or gemote, a meeting.] In Saxon law. The court or meeting of a burgh or borough; a borough court, (curia burgensis.) A court held in burghs or towns three times a year, at which the ealdorman, or alderman presided.
