In deeds, this word signifies the immediate descendants of a person, in the ordinary sense of the word, as contra-distinguished from issue; unless there be some accompanying expressions, evidencing that the word is used in an enlarged sense.

S. C. In testamentary instruments, however, unless the manifest intent requires a different construction, it is extended to all the descendants, whether mediate or immediate, of the ancestor, being in such cases synonymous with issue.
