A New Law Dictionary and Glossary
[L. Lat. commune concilium.'] The representative body of a corporation, in which is vested the power of making its laws and administering its affairs.* According to Lord Holt, a common council is incident to all corporations of common right, unless it be otherwise provided by the patent of creation.
