Breve, L. Lat. Writ of mesne. A writ in the nature of a writ of right, which l&y for an undertenant against the mesne or middle lord, where, upon a subinfeudation, the mesney or middle lord, suffered his undertenant, or tenant paravail, to be distrained upon by the lord paramount for the rent due to him from the mesne lord.
